John “Jack” Stellato is our director of the summer youth sailing program.

Jack has been sailing on Mattapoisett waters since the age of ten when his family moved to our community. From that young age to today he has accumulated extensive sailing experience. Jack’s resume includes racing JY15s and Beetle Cats; competing in the Buzzards Bay Regattas and Marion to Bermuda Races; he sails in the weekly yacht races and was part of a transport crew from New Bedford to Antigua.

Jack’s devotion to encouraging sailing has been demonstrated in his years of community service. His service includes being an active board member for both the Low Tide Yacht Club and Matt Sail. Jack, along with Matt Sail, was instrumental in starting the ORR sailing program in 2008. The team now has 40 sailors and, of course, Jack is a volunteer coach.
