Sailing and Community

Children in Sailboats

The Mattapoisett Community Sailing Association, Inc. (MattSail) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization incorporated in 2007 that provides safe, affordable sailing education and access to recreational sailing for residents of Mattapoisett, Marion, and Rochester (the Tri-Town area) and beyond.

Our signature program is the William E. Mee Youth Sailing Program, an exciting, fun-filled summer adventure on the water for kids and teens ages 6 to 15. Based out of Mattapoisett Town Beach on Water Street in Mattapoisett, with all sailing taking place in beautiful Mattapoisett Harbor, the program consists of three two-week sailing sessions plus a one-week fourth session. Whether your child is a total beginner, has some sailing experience, or is preparing for racing, we focus on building confidence, teaching essential skills, and creating lasting memories, all in a safe, supportive environment. Youth sailing develops coordination, strength, resilience, critical thinking, teamwork, leadership, independence, and a deep appreciation for the marine environment.

MattSail also sponsors the High School Sailing Team at Old Rochester Regional High School, assisting in the development of young sailors to sail competitively.

In addition to our youth program, we provide private lessons to adults to teach basic sailing nomenclature, safety rules, and confidence-building skills to beginners or those looking to refresh their abilities.

Through collaboration with the Mattapoisett Recreation Department, dedicated volunteers, and community support, we make sailing accessible and enjoyable for our community. Join us on the water!
