Summer Sailing

The Summer Sailing Program is open to all students ages 6 to 13 for AM classes, and ages 8 to 15 for PM classes. Students ages 6 to 8 will be assigned to the Junior morning program.

Program Tuition

The cost of each two-week program is $300 per student. No class on July 4th Session 1 cost $270. Tuition Assistance is available. No Refunds.

Lunch Program

Sailors can pack their lunch, eat with our sailing instructors, and be walked to Center School for MATTREC Afternoon Seahorse Explorers Program. The cost to stay for lunch and transportation to Seahorse Explorers is $30.00 for the 2 week session. Parents must then register for MATTREC Seahorse Explorers separately. This can be done by going to MATTREC’s website at www.mattrec.net

Program Notes

Classes will be tailored to fit the needs of the students enrolled. Students will be grouped based upon their sailing ability. Morning weather usually offers lighter winds and calmer seas more suitable for beginner sailors.

Note: Students must pass a basic swimming test on the first day of class.


Starfish
Morning Program Only

8:30 AM to 11:30 AM
Ages: Grades 1-3

Starfish is for our younger sailors that are new to sailing or have sailed for a few summers. Our goal is for them to enjoy the water and gain fundamental knowledge, making them love sailing and wanting to learn more. Combining sailing, songs, and crafts we create a fun environment to build your child’s confidence on the water. Extended care is available for those looking for afternoon MattRec Seahorse Explorers Program. Campers can eat their packed lunch with our sailing councilors and will be walked to Center School for 12:30 drop off. Parents must register for MattRec Seahorse Explorers Program and Mattapoisett Community Sailing Billy E. Mee Youth Sailing separately and sign release forms.


Dolphins
Morning Program Only

8:30 AM to 11:30 AM

Dolphins are introduced to the basic sailing concepts while building their confidence on the water. They will be placed in groups based on their skill level. Games, crafts, and science will be incorporated into this program to ensure a fun learning environment. Extended care is available for those looking for afternoon MattRec Seahorse Explorers Program. Campers can eat their packed lunch with our sailing councilors and will be walked to Center School for 12:30 drop off. Parents must register for MattRec Seahorse Explorers Program and Mattapoisett Community Sailing’s Billy E. Mee Youth Sailing separately and sign release forms.

Adventure Seals is for our more experienced sailors who are looking to increase their boat knowledge and boat handling skills in a fun, relaxing environment. Students will be broken up by skill level. Sailors participating in this group will have the opportunity to sail in small groups, with an instructor, or alone accompanied by a safety boat.

420 Race Sharks sail in the afternoons when the winds pick up. This group is geared toward our more advanced sailors. These afternoon sailors work on honing in on the skills they have developed. They work on sailing for better speed, better sail trim, and sailing independently.


Race Skills
Afternoon Program Only

12:30 PM to 3:30 PM
Session 2 – July 16 to July 27, 2018
Session 3 – July 24 to August 4, 2018

This afternoon program is designed to teach the experienced sailors racing rules, safety, skills, and strategies as well as to foster team work between skipper & crew.

Note the availability of the race skills program will depend upon sufficient interested enrollment; otherwise it will be replaced by a regular afternoon program.
