Eligibility: The Summer Sailing Program is open to all students ages 6 to 13 of morning classes and 8 to 15 for afternoon classes. Students ages 6-8 will be assigned to the Junior morning program.

Program Tuition: The cost of each two-week program is $365 per student.  Financial aid is available. No Refunds.

Program Notes:

• Classes will be tailored to fit the needs of the students enrolled.
• Students will be grouped based upon their sailing ability.
• Morning weather usually offers lighter winds and calmer seas more suitable for beginner sailors.
• Students must pass a basic swimming test on the first day of class.

Schedule:

Morning Program: - 8:30 AM -11:30 AM  (Sessions 1, 2 & 3)

• • The morning programs are designed for beginner sailors with little or no sailing experience or for sailors who need to build confidence in their sailing ability.
  • The morning programs are designed to teach basic sailing nomenclature, safety rules and will consist of daily shore lessons and on the water instruction.
  • Sailors ages 6- 8 will be assigned to the Junior morning program.

Afternoon Program: 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM: Sessions 1, 2 & 3

• • Students in the afternoon programs must have some sailing experience, knowledge of basic sailing nomenclature and safety rules along with confidence to crew or skipper.

Race Skills Program: 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM: Session 3 only

• • This afternoon program is designed to teach the experienced sailors racing rules, safety, skills and strategies as well as to foster team work between skipper & crew.
  • Note the availability of the race skills program will depend upon sufficient interested enrollment, otherwise it will be replaced by a regular afternoon program.

Session 1: June 27 through July 8

Session 2: July 11 through July 22

Session 3: July 25 through August 5

The Colbert Report: Live TV Show Experience in New York City including 3 night stay at the Grand Hyatt and roundtrip airfare for 2 from American Airlines.  Subject to availability/blackout dates: 2010: Nov. 19-24, Nov. 27-29, Dec. 18-23 and Dec. 26-31. 2011: TBD. Anonymous donation. Value: Priceless.
5. Rare authenticated reproduction of Mystic Seaport entitled “Charles W. Morgan at Chubbs Wharf by Moonlight” originally painted by renown marine artist John Stobart valued at $699.00.
6. Portable Weber Q100 gas grill in silver model number 386002 weighing 29 lbs, measures 28.3 x 15.98. Value: $139.
7. Womens Clothing Package from Sailaway Studio: Gauze overtop accompanied by gemstone necklace and earrings with an evening wallet and purse with shawl in shades of peach and orange sorbet. Value: $150.

The regatta will include PHRF, class racing and a new class for recreational sailors which will sail one long/easy course around Buzzards Bay. This is a super event for sailors at all levels of experience!

The regatta will be followed by the 4th Annual MattSail Gala.

For me and MattSail, Karl was always our “go-to” guy.  It didn’t matter the task; it didn’t matter the weather; it didn’t matter how busy, the answer was always “I’ll take care of it”.

Karl, the MattSail community will miss you but the “we can make it happen” spirit you brought to the program will endure.
